CONFIRMATION

At St Margaret’s we welcome both young and adult candidates for Confirmation which is an important part of a lifetime journey of faith as a follower of Jesus Christ. The first step will be to contact Fr David via email

When you speak to Fr David he will invite you to an initial meeting to help you get ready for the confirmation classes which are held during the year. This is a good way to explore your faith with others who are also thinking about confirmation and is a safe place to ask any questions you have about God, Jesus and the journey of faith.

You will no doubt have many questions about Confirmation and we would recommend the Church of England web site

as a good source of information:

FUNERALS

St Margaret’s will always be there to help you through one of life’s most difficult times. A Church of England-led funeral is available to everyone, giving support before, during and after the service, for as long as it’s needed. Our support starts with a phone call to Fr. David via email

If you are unable to contact Fr David, then please contact our churchwardens -details on our CONTACT page

There is so much to think about when someone has died – there are formalities to complete, people need to be told and a funeral to organise. The Church of England web site will take you through the process and answer all your questions.

After the initial news of the death of someone you knew and loved, there are some important things that need to be done. These are two of the more immediate things:

1.      Register the death. There is some helpful guidance on this on the government’s births, marriages, and deaths advice page   https://www.gov.uk/register-a-death

2.      Meet a Funeral Director.

The following are local Funeral Directors with whom we have worked in the past:

·         Stibbards      01702558717        website

·         T. Cribb        0207-476-1855     website

·         A.R.Adams  01268-743102       website

·         W Thorp      01702-668364       website

Alternative Funeral Directors can be found on the National Association of Funeral Directors’  website or on the National Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF)   website

FUNERAL LOCATIONS

A Church of England funeral doesn’t have to be in a church – though it can be. Fr David can lead the whole funeral service in a different place, or, a church service can be built into part of the day, wherever the funeral takes place. St Margaret’s can be wherever you need us to be. Please contact Fr David who will help you via email

FUNERAL COSTS

The fees associated with a church service are governed by the Church of England – whilst we can refer you to a web site, it is better to speak to Fr David who can guide you through the funeral process and the associated costs.

OTHERS

At St Margaret’s we welcome people along with their friends and families who have the need for the support of the Church. For example, it may be the centenary of the birth of a parent and you feel the need to celebrate it in St Margaret’s – or to mark a Golden Wedding with an appropriate church service. Whatever your requirement, please contact and discuss it with Fr David via email
